I ran into a bug in Word 2016 for Mac today.  My Normal.dotm template became corrupt and I needed to delete. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able find the correct folder location via various support sites and blogs.  I found something close and used the ls command to find the exact location.  Hope this helps if you run across the same bug.

Correct location of the Word 2016 for Mac Templates folder running OS X 10.11.3 (El Capitan)

~/Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.Office/User Content.localized/Templates.localized/*

Simple Terminal command to list your templates

ls -adlh ~/Library/Group\ Containers/UBF8T346G9.Office/User\ Content.localized/Templates.localized/*
